Right-of-Way Requirements

Any contractor, except for concrete contractors installing public sidewalks, who perform excavations in the public right-of-way must adhere to the City of Sycamore's Municipal Code, Chapter 7-3-3-A and provide the following:

  1. A completed Bond for Utility Work in Right-of-Way Form (PDF) in the amount of $10,000 to guarantee the proper restoration of the site.
  2. A Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI) naming the City of Sycamore as an additional insured with minimum coverages as outlined below:
    1. Liability insurance in force, the limits of which are not less than $250,000 for injury to one (1) person and $500,000 for injuries arising out of an accident in which more than one (1) person is involved; and,
    2. Property damage insurance in force, with a minimum coverage of $250,000 and a deductible clause not exceeding $500.00. Each COI must indicate the policy's expiration date.

No bond will be accepted unless accompanied by a COI. All completed information can be emailed to permits@cityofsycamore.com.

No permits will be approved until all requirements are on file with the City of Sycamore.
