Sycamore Police Department Releases Independence Day Traffic Safety Campaign Results

The Sycamore Police Department made (1) impaired driving arrest and issued (2) seat belt citations during the Fourth of July “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click it or Ticket” campaigns. (1) citation was also issued for Distracted Driving.

Additionally our officers made (2) arrests for driving while license suspended/revoked/no valid, (2) drug arrests during the campaign, and recovered an illegal firearm thrown from a vehicle which had fled during an enforcement stop. An investigation regarding the recovered firearm is currently ongoing.

The Sycamore Police Department joined forces with more than 200 other local law enforcement agencies from June 17 through July 6 to get drunk and drugged drivers off our roads and encourage seat belt use. The effort featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including a media campaign.

The enforcement period was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket”programs.
